Nameservers: what they are and how to change them

The setting that decides which company runs your website and email.

A domain's nameservers tell the internet where to find everything about it: your website, your email, your other services. Whichever company runs the nameservers is the one whose DNS settings count.

Point your domain at Hosteaze

  1. Open your website's control panel then Domains. It shows the two nameservers to use, usually ns1.hosteaze.com and ns2.hosteaze.com.
  2. Log in to the company where you registered the domain.
  3. Find Nameservers (sometimes under DNS or Domain settings) and replace the existing ones with ours.
  4. Save. Changes normally take effect within a few hours but can take up to a day.

Warning. Do not change nameservers until we have told you your website and email are ready on our side. Changing too early can take your site or email offline. If we are moving you, we will tell you exactly when.

If your email is somewhere else

If your email is with Microsoft 365, Google or another provider, tell us. Moving the nameservers keeps your existing email records, so mail carries on working, but we will check first.

Why use our nameservers?

Everything for your domain is then managed in one place, in your control panel. See DNS records.
