I changed my DNS but nothing has changed
Why DNS changes take time, how to check where your domain really points, and the usual mistakes.

DNS is the internet's address book. A change can take from a few minutes to a few hours to reach everyone, because every network keeps a saved copy for a while.
First, find out who runs your DNS
Your domain's DNS is managed in one place: wherever its nameservers point.
- If the nameservers are Hosteaze's, you change records in the control panel under Domains, then DNS.
- If they are somewhere else (your registrar, Cloudflare, Microsoft 365 and so on), records must be changed there. Records you add in the Hosteaze panel are ignored.
The chat's technical assistant can look up your domain's nameservers and records for you.
Check where it points now
A domain that points at Hosteaze has an A record with our server's address, for both yourdomain.com and www.yourdomain.com. The assistant can tell you whether yours does.
Common reasons it has not changed
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| You edited DNS in the wrong place | Change it where the nameservers point, as above |
| The change is still spreading | Wait a few hours. Lower values for TTL make future changes faster |
www was forgotten | Add a CNAME for www pointing to your domain |
| An old A record is still there | Remove it, so only one address is left |
| You can still see the old site | Your computer saved the old answer. Try your phone on mobile data, or restart the browser |
| A security warning appears | The certificate can only be issued once the domain points here. See Your free SSL certificate |
Moving to Hosteaze
When we move you from another host, we tell you which setting to change. See Moving your website and email to Hosteaze and Point your domain at Hosteaze.
