Moving your website and email to Hosteaze
What happens when we move you from another host, and what you need to do.
If you are joining us from another host, we can move your website, databases and email for you. Your domain keeps working throughout.
What we move
- Your website files and databases
- Your email addresses, the messages in them, and their passwords, so you do not need to change anything in Outlook or on your phone
- Forwarding addresses and your DNS records (the settings that make your domain work)
What you need to do
Usually very little. We will tell you when the move is ready and, if it is needed, which setting to change at your domain registrar. After the switch:
- Check your website loads and looks right.
- Send yourself a test email, and send one from your phone or computer.
- Tell us straight away if anything looks wrong.
Note. Email already hosted somewhere else (for example Microsoft 365 or Google) stays where it is. We only change what is needed for your website.
After the move
Messages that arrive at your old host while the switch is spreading across the internet are copied across to your new mailbox. This can take up to a day, so do not cancel your old hosting until we say it is safe.
