My website is not loading
A checklist for a website that is down, slow or showing an error.
Work down this list. Most problems are one of the first three.
- Is it just you? Try the site on your phone using mobile data, or in a private window.
- Is it paused? If you see a "Website unavailable" page, see Website temporarily unavailable.
- Did you just change something? A new plugin, theme or PHP version is the most common cause. Undo the last change. If you changed the PHP version, switch it back in Tools.
- Does the control panel say it is active? Open My Hosting and check the status.
- Does the browser say "not private"? See Your SSL certificate.
- Is the domain pointing at us? See Point your domain.
Common errors
| What you see | Usually means |
|---|---|
| 500 Internal Server Error | A fault in your website's code or a plugin. Check the last change, or the PHP version |
| 403 Forbidden | There is no website file in the folder, or file permissions are wrong |
| 404 Not Found | The page does not exist. In WordPress, re-saving Settings then Permalinks often fixes it |
| 503 Website unavailable | The website is paused. See the earlier link |
| White page | A PHP fatal error. Try a different PHP version, or turn off the last plugin you added |
If none of that helps, open a support ticket with the address of the page, what you changed and roughly when it stopped working.
