Set up email in Thunderbird

Add your Hosteaze email address to Mozilla Thunderbird.

  1. Open Thunderbird and go to Account Settings then Account Actions then Add Mail Account. (On a fresh install it asks straight away.)
  2. Enter your name, your full email address and your password, then choose Configure manually.
  3. Fill in the email settings: IMAP server mail.yourdomain.com, port 993, SSL/TLS; SMTP server mail.yourdomain.com, port 465, SSL/TLS. Authentication: Normal password.
  4. Set the username to your full email address for both.
  5. Choose Done.

If Thunderbird keeps asking for a password

It is probably holding an old saved password.

  1. Go to Settings then Privacy & Security then Saved Passwords.
  2. Search for your domain, select the entry and remove it.
  3. Restart Thunderbird and type the correct password when asked. Tick the box to remember it.

Outgoing mail asks for its own password the first time you send. Use the same one.
